8 years (and a half) of Luanca

3½ years ago I made a status report on my apps and games, after 5 years of work. Time has passed and it has passed fast. I haven’t updated my apps that much since. Century has gotten 5 updates in 2020, 2 in 2021 and 1 in 2022. Santa Biblia 2 got 2 updates in 2020 and one in 2023. Charango Master got it’s final update in 2020. Don’t feed the duck and Santa Biblia 1 have not been updated since 2019 and won’t be updated anymore.

So what has happened the last 3½ years? Well, on a personal note, I have been too busy to update the apps due to starting to take a bachelor in Theology on the side. This eats a lot of my free time. (un)Luckily, I find myself between jobs, which means I get to go back to some of these hobby projects that have been collecting dust. So during July I will have some time to work on this. Then in August I will get busy again with (hopefully) work and part-time studies. Also I am still playing and making music on the side. That also takes time.

How is Luanca doing?

Well, downloads have slightly fallen over the past two years, which is expected as I have neglected them. Century has taken over as my second most popular app in regards to downloads and Santa Biblia 1 and Don’t feed the duck have disappeared. They are dead. RIP.

My apps don’t give much income considering the amount of time put into them. Charango Master continues to be the biggest earner. I have tried to minimise how much monetization is in my apps. I do this for fun, not for money.

In active users I can see that Santa Biblia 1 is dying a slow death, Don’t feed the duck died a while ago, Charango Master is forever my biggest success, and Santa Biblia 2 and Century are doing alright.

Overall I’ve managed to remain above 10,000 active users across my apps for the past 4 years. I am extremely proud of this.

Conclusions:

  1. Charango Master remains my biggest success. In downloads, in income, in user retention. The tech stack it was built with makes it impossible to keep updating it. I rewrote it in Kotlin in 2021, but decided not to publish it. I plan to rewrite the app using MAUI so I can continue to update and develop it into the future. This is my main project for 2023
  2. Century is a success, so I will keep updating it from time to time, though not as often as pre-2020
  3. Santa Biblia 2 is a success, so I will update it at least yearly
  4. Santa Biblia 1 and Don’t feed the duck will be removed from Play store by the end of 2023. I will put my energy into the others.

That is it from me for now. I will do a separate post for points 1, 2 and 3 once it is relevant. Have a nice summer. I will spend it on coding (and job interviews).

All the best,

André
